Rafiah H. Prince was born and raised in Rockville, Maryland where she attended the Bullis Preparatory School in Potomac, Maryland. She later relocated to Southern Florida where she received a BS in Criminal Justice from Lynn University receiving academic honors. After completing her BS she attended Nova Southeastern University and received a Masters degree in Family and Marriage Therapy. After finding her passion she continued her education and is current working on her dissertation to complete her PhD in Family Therapy.

Rafiah is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist; she has dedicated her life to helping families and individuals. She is the founder of Rafiah Prince Therapy which serves the community in Southern Florida. In addition, she works for a non- profit agency that treats severe and persistent DSM Axis I disorders ranging from schizophrenia to substance abuse addiction.  Rafiah serves as a guest speaker at Nova Southeastern University on the issue of the importance of the therapeutic relationship.

Rafiah’s epistemology is based in a strength based approaches. This means that she assumes that all clients have the potential and strengths to solve their own dilemmas.  She also believes that clients are not deficiency based. In addition, she assumes that there is no absolute truth and many truths. She also accepts the realities of clients and sees them as the experts in their own lives. She’s an expert in the art of collaborative talk. Rafiah believes in respecting the ecology of the mind and the environment.  Rafiah sees the connection between the physical environment and ones mental state.

Rafiah continues her research on the therapeutic relationship and systemic connection between people and their environments. She attempts to finds ways to understand and help others.
